Themes

The themes for eoCMS are very nice, but they all look like the same thing only with different colors. They need to be more diverse. I'm not saying the themes you have are bad, but they definitely need a new look.

Also, do all the sites have to have the eoCMS logo on the top of the page?

Re: Themes

No you can have any logo you like, just that we have eoCMS because we are eoCMS Tongue.

Layouts can be changed as well although that doesn't sound too easy. I could be wrong though.

Ok, that clarifies some stuff for me. Sorry I blamed the themes for looking the same.

as long as you are in a theme (layout_functions) you basically have (within reason) total control of the layout, I bent it with mine, but there is no reason why it could not be broken completely, and still cater for most of what is already possible with eoCMS

I have a top menu, positioned down the left, with a (totally) empty left panel, and I exclude the right panel on most pages. I went to the extreme of changing the panel widths, but this caused problems when used with the "exclude panel" options in the admin section (excluding right pushed everything left)

suffice to say, there is more than enough room to let your creative (layout) juices run wild, and I look forward to doing some truly righteous themes in the near future Wink <-- missing smiley

Re: Themes

It probably moved right due to the CSS stuff telling it to when you excluded the panels. Look in theme-functions.php there is a check to see what is being excluded. Its so there isnt a huge blank gap to either the left or right

Re: Themes

yep...

it only happened when I took out the 23% width from the left and right panel, then added "exlude right", it "looked like" it excluded left Smile
I set it back, just to simplify keeping my layout, and still be able to get eocms to do what it was supposed to (in this case exclude right panel from every page, except maybe login)

it is flexible, that is the point, this is a good thing, unlike say SMF, which I have only seen one skin "break the mold" as it were, everything else looks identical, with different colors and grafix (some are really cool, but they are basically all the same)

eoCMS does not suffer from this, I will show you what I mean with the next skin

Re: Themes

Paul I have sort of promised to make a tut upon eoCMS' release to show people the easiest way to create new themes. How would you feel about writing a short bit about layouts as well?

Re: Themes

Well just some info about making a new layout for eoCMS and matching it to the current designs (not sure how it works completely otherwise I'd be writing it myself lol)

And there's no hurry for it to be written, a few weeks long enough?
