New User Help

Hi
I am looking at possibly using eoCMS for a semi-commercial operation. Although it is very obviously in a developmental stage, it still looks as functional as I may need and I am prepared to try to support a startup software. However, from a  new user point of view I had assumed that I wouldbe able to get some basic FAQs and Troubleshooting and the like for installation and setup, which, if it is available through this site, is not immediately obvious. So, I would strongly recommend that you have a "beginners start here" section.
eg my current situation is that it will not run setup on my IIS server - the setup.php just opens as text instead of executing. I'd like to know what to do next?
Thanks
Graeme

Yes, sorry, I meant install.php. I did finally (after following a few web threads) get PHP installed on my server, and configured all the linking and so on - which was so much that any other novice would have been completely scared off - and now the install.php runs but only gets to the second step and gives a server error.
This is getting much more like support, but it is also an ilustration of what any new user would probably go through.
What kind of link could I send?

I do think we need a knowledgebase for new users to start off with.

Re: New User Help

Could you please post the error? If it is to do with class.phpmailer then it means you need PHP 5 and not 4 installed

Re: New User Help

this is a good reason to (quickley) compile some docs.

On the left should be
1) beginners start here
2) trouble shooting
3) requirements

and maybe
4) db and security issues

if its not immediately obvious from the previous 3

the current articles should be called "development articles", a new list should be (say) "beginner docs" or "eocms installation" (or similar)
