Created a Webinstall Script

Hi,

I have created a web install script dont know if any dev will like it but anyway it downloads the script from a server in the one i made from mine for eg then with PaulWratts great unzipper script it can be unzipped
so in short form:

It downloads the zip file from a server when run (This zip file contains everything what is needed to run eoCMS)

Allows the user to extract the zip to the server and then continue to the install process

If any devs are interested plz comment and i will post a link to the script i made.

if this would be used it would be easy for the user to download the script and install it without uploading the whole package.

although some servers do not support fsockopen this could stil be a good option for anyone who just cant bother downloading and uploading the whole script.

:) please comment if you would like the download link if your wondering why i did not post the link its because i dont want to much traffic to my server and an external backup services or file storage services are just a waste of time.

Thanks

Re: Created a Webinstall Script

forgot to add:

to install it simply put the script in a directory then run it click extract it should be completed in seconds then you just need to configure eoCMS as you would normally

This makes it a lot easier than having to extract it all yourself.

Re: Created a Webinstall Script

it also makes it FASTER to download the script as they only need to download the 1 file

Re: Created a Webinstall Script

something like this could be used with a set of default db inserts to create a default layout and/or configuration walk-through

Re: Created a Webinstall Script

this needs more testing as the unzipper needs to be integrated, the whole process needs to be a "remote-one-click"

either way, it is time consuming, and ATM, I would say "not available until after 0.8.2 FINAL is released", as there are other things that need to go into it as well, like custom SQL installs
